DOWNERS GROVE, ILL. - The Joint Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) has awarded Omnivox, LLC, headquartered here, a contract to design, develop and prototype medical technologies to assist in the prevention, mitigation and treatment of blast injuries, the leading cause of casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. If all contract options are exercised, the project, called Counter-IED Medical Technologies (CIMT), will be worth $33 million over two years.

Our team of scientists, engineers and medical professionals have been working for two years to address the prevention, mitigation and treatment of injuries from roadside bombs,“ said Lynn O’Connell, Omnivox managing consultant and program manager for the JIEDDO effort.

This project will save lives,” O’Connell continued, “by providing resiliency training to prepare troops to cope with the battle environment, support for field medical personnel in theater, improved safety and protective equipment, new diagnostic and treatment technologies, and advanced robotics.”

Omnivox was established in September 2009 as a management consulting firm. As the prime contractor, Omnivox will serve as program manager for the effort. Merritt Allen, a female service-disabled veteran, is the managing member of Omnivox.
